If there was any doubt over just how evil Activision is then their latest debacle will surely remove it. Yes it seems that Bobby Kotick (CEO), or rather his chief legal officer George Rose has been taking a leaf out of Newscorp’s book and decided to try and hack the email accounts of Jason West and Vince Zampella. For anyone who doesn’t know, West and Zampella were the founding members of Infinity Ward, the studio behind industry behemoth ‘Call of Duty.’Infinity Ward was and is owned by Activision and in 2010 the pair were dismissed by Activision on grounds of insubordination (which I would imagine was a clash of egos as there are no concrete details on exactly why the pair were fired). About half of the employees at Infinity Ward also left en mass with this. Zampella and West since took Activision to court and it’s recently emerged that Activision’s IT director Thomas Fenady was ordered by George Rose to try to get access to West and Zampella’s email accounts in order to dig up dirt on the pair as they were looking for an excuse to get rid of them. What a bunch of cunts! And to think that EA were recently voted the worst company in America (no doubt something to do with the ending to Mass Effect 3, which I do have my own thoughts on for another time)! As if! Activision take the cake here I’m afraid.
To top it off, this isn’t even innovative evil, hacking into email accounts…that’s so tired! You’d have thought with all that Modern Warfare record-breaking sales money that they’d have funded a genetically identical clone of one of the two to try and get the other to give up the passwords. Hell they could at least have tried to hire Leo Di Caprio and Joseph Gordon-Levitt to break into Zampella and West’s minds! Anyway the whole thing stinks and I hope Bobby Kotick and his blood sucking cronies get what’s coming to them.
