This write up may feel about a week or so late but I assure it’s a deliberate decision. I’ve always felt that games show summaries should always be done a week, maybe even two or three after the event has finished. People are very quick to commit their thoughts to paper (or to hard disk nowadays I suppose) lest they lose them amidst the hustle and bustle of the show itself, but there in lies in the problem. The hype inevitably colours the journalist’s opinions, better to leave it a week or two and let things settle down so we can have a nice calm, considered reflection on E3 2012. Yes it’s Christmas time for gamers…it’s E3 time! Seriously though, for me there is something about E3 that really does strike the same chord with me as December 25th did when I was a young boy. It’s essentially Christmas time for twenty-something guys who live alone and spend their time playing video games…except instead of getting presents, you get the promise of presents to come.
If there was any doubt over just how evil Activision is then their latest debacle will surely remove it. Yes it seems that Bobby Kotick (CEO), or rather his chief legal officer George Rose has been taking a leaf out of Newscorp’s book and decided to try and hack the email accounts of Jason West and Vince Zampella. For anyone who doesn’t know, West and Zampella were the founding members of Infinity Ward, the studio behind industry behemoth ‘Call of Duty.’ Continue Reading
